JIM MCGUINNESS, Chief Instructor

I started training in Shukokai Karate with Sensei Mac Albus in 1991.  On January 24, 2004 I was promoted to the rank of Shodan (first degree black belt). In March of 2006 I was promoted to Nidan (second degree).

One day at the dojo I observed Sensei Mac teaching a children’s karate class. I admired the way Sensei was able to combine modern applications of the mind and body with traditional karate. His teaching of this martial art gave the children a priceless awareness both physically and psychologically of how to better themselves and led me to involve myself with teaching children. My children, and any source of news, impact this eagerness into actions.

I currently train with Sensei Mac two times per week and also attend the Shukokai annual “Gasshuku” which is a 2 to 4 day training seminar with top chief instructors from around the world.

My wife Kathy, sons Thomas and Robert and myself have been Fort Montgomery Residents since March 1999. I am employed full time with a specialty architectural products company as a Project Manager/Site Foreman. I assist coaching with the Highland Falls/ West Point youth football league in my spare time.

It is my intention to spread the positive results from being involved with Shukokai Karate. Shukokai is an international family with thousands of members, primarily in North America and Europe.

Orange County Shukokai Karate has a direct lineage going back to the beginning of Martial Arts as known today!
